Eric Hayrapetian is a lifelong Angeleno and an aspiring journalist who is passionate about sports reporting and writing. Growing up in Los Angeles and being a sports enthusiast, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers have always been the teams he has supported. ​He became captivated by the stories of how athletes came to be, and his passion expanded from there. He devotes his leisure time to researching and reading about developing stories that transpire in the realm of sports.

 

Eric Hayrapetian is a motivated senior at the University of California, Berkeley studying media, as he expects to graduate in May 2024. Prior to enrolling at UC Berkeley, Eric spent two years at Glendale Community College, where he received his associate's degree in Journalism.

Eric has most recently been a sports beat writer for The Daily Californian, responsible for covering Division I athletics at "Cal". Along with the opportunity of covering Cal sports, Eric has had the joy of publishing a weekly, season-long column about the Seattle Seahawks — his favorite NFL team.

 

Prior to his time at Berkeley, Eric also spent this time as a staff writer and sports editor for Glendale Community College's newspaper, El Vaquero. He has written pieces about on-campus and professional sports.

 

His journalism experience arises from there, but his passion expands into broadcasting on Cal's radio, KALX 90.7 FM, where he has opportunities to be a Play-by-Play and a Color Analyst at Cal games. He also appears weekly on "Bear Talk", an on-air radio talk show dedicated to covering everything Cal sports. Eric also ventures into social media, letting his creative side run wild.

Eric is seeking a career in sports journalism and is confident that his ongoing experiences and knowledge will assist him to reach his professional goals.
